Job training and further training often take place in surroundings, which cannot provide abstract knowledge with practical relevance or adapt to individual learning behavior. Adaptive systems offer personalyzed solutions for learning with practical relevance but receive little publicity, so far.

Goals and actions

The focus of the project KoBeLU lays on the developement of practically oriented and cost-effective learning-environments. More customized informations are coming right into the work space, just by, for example, touching them, if you have to work with electronic components. Additional motivation is created by gamification (playful elements in the tasks).1  The combination of an interactive projection surface, counteraction, emotion  as well as stress recognition – considering data protection – the playful approach and activity orientation  makes learning content really understandable. The system is developed and tested in a in a user-centric design process with apprentices or participants for in-company continuing vocational training, students of electrical engeneering and residents of care institutions in the field of cooking.

Innovations and perspectives

The envisaged context aware system shall be like a personal learning coach, that supports and motivates the learners 2. This will be achieved through the possibility to offer individual solutions even for complex practical tasks. This will improve training and further training in the long term and will solve the problems with lacking supervision and the related drop in enthusiasm for learning, especially in the MINT disciplines.
