PETRA 2019
PETRA 19 is held in Rhodes. The three images below are from our paper on the Affective Effects of Gamification.

This year, Oliver Korn once more had the pleasure to work as the chair of the program committee of PETRA, the ACM Conference on Pervasive Technologies Related to Assistive Environments. The conference started yesterday, and accepted papers are accessible in the conference proceedings in the ACM Digital Library. With over 30 accepted full papers, many posters, 6 workshops, and 120 registrations, the conference continues to be small but to the point. If you’ve never attended: it is a great community.

The ACI is well represented: right in the first session, Oliver presented the paper Affective Effects of Gamification. Using Biosignals to Measure the Effects on Working and Learning Users. This research shows how effective gamification is in working and learning contexts, as it clearly impacts the joy working and learning users have. You can read more on ResearchGate or in the ACM DL.

Today Oliver gave a keynote on Assistive Systems at the Workplace: The Past, the Present – and the Future within the DAEM-workshop (Designing Assistive Environments for Manufacturing). You can find the slides on ResearchGate and more info on Twitter.

If you have never been to PETRA, we highly recommend to join this vivid community – next year we will meet on Corfu. By the way: typically, the conference is close to the sea…
